Hadrian was emperor of Rome and is recognized as the third of the Five Good Emperors who ruled justly. He is also remembered for his love affair with the Bithynian youth Antinous whom he deified after the young man’s death. Ephesians dedicated a Temple to Hadrian which can be visited in the ancient city of Ephesus.
